The Faithful Servant

NKFV Luke 12.35 - 40

"Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning; and you yourselves be like men who wait for their master, when he will return from the wedding, that when he comes and knocks they may open to him immediately. Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching. assuredly, I say too you that he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat, and will come and serve them. And if he should come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect."

A beautiful end-time warning from Jesus himself. When he said; Let your waist be girded, what Jesus was telling his followers was for them to tie the truth of his word around their waist. The purpose of tightening your waist is to hold your clothes tight and does not fall. Similarly Jesus wants his followers to tighten the truth around their waist so that they do not fall into temptations.

See Ephesians  6.14 where it reads; "Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness." Here Jesus was telling his followers to tighten the truth around their waist. The truth from his words through the Holy Bible.

Also in Luke 12.35 Jesus continued by telling his followers; "and your lamps burning." Looking at this phrase, Jesus uses Lamps, meaning more than one lamp. Many lamps. Let us look at some others verse in the bible and work out what lamp refers to;

Psalm119.105 reads; "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path," From this verse Gods word is a lamp. Keep God's words in our heart, so that the truth is firmly held to safe guard us from the devils lies and deceptions.

Proverbs 6.23 reads; "For the commandment is a lamp and the Law a light" This verse tells us that God's ten commandment is a lamp to guide us in the truth. And God's ten commandment can be found in Exodus 20.2 - 17

Proverbs 20.27 reads; "The spirit of a man is the Lamp of the Lord, searching all the inner depths of his heart." Our conscience is a Lamp to us enabling us to know what is right from what his wrong.

2 Samuel 22.29, 30 reads; "For you are my Lamp, O Lord; the Lord shall enlighten my darkness, for by you I can run against a troop." What an awesome God. He is a lamp to enlighten us from error and deceptions.

Let us take heed of God's end-time warning;

LET YOUR WAIST BE GIRDED AND YOUR LAMPS BURNING.

God's rewards is in Verse 37. A beautiful reward; He (Jesus) will gird himself and have them sit to eat and he himself (Jesus) will serve.

A BEAUTIFUL REWARD.
