will be yours for food.”
What is the ideal diet for human beings? According
to (George D Pamplona-Roger, 2001) Humans possess great capacity to adapt
physiologically to many different types of foods however, in spite of this, nutrition
science has demonstrated that there are certain foods that cannot be
eliminated, such as fruits and fresh vegetables. Rogers went further by stating
that not just any diet can produce good health. No matter how well we adapt to
certain foods that are not ideal, such as those of animal origin, we continue
to need vegetables which are the most healthful and readily available.
Some important facts obtained from Rogers’s book;
Encyclopaedia of Foods and their Healing Power, stated that Fruits, Grains, Legumes
as well as vegetables are particularly rich in antioxidants and
accompanying substances known as phytochemical elements.
What
are antioxidants? Antioxidants refer to certain vitamins
and minerals that can be found in fruits and vegetables. The Oxford Advanced
Learners Dictionary describes antioxidants as substances such as Vitamins C or
E that removes dangerous molecules, such as free radicals from the body.
What
are phytochemical elements? These are fruits that has healing
properties and able to cure illnesses.

What does fruit provides?

Water - Uncontaminated water.

Sugars - mainly glucose and sucrose,
which are absorbed directly into the bloodstream without need of digestion.

Starch – Most fruits contains little or
none. It is converted to simple sugars.

Fiber and Organic Acid, Vitamin C,
Provitamin A, antioxidants and minerals, flavonoids, anthocyanins and
phytochemicals.
Papua New Guinea is blessed with so many delicious
fruits that grow well in the tropical climates and we need to encourage our
people to eat more fruits.

Fruit is good for a healthy body – No
other type of food has so many preventive and healing properties. The National
Cancer Institute of the United State of America recommends that that everyone
eat at least, five servings of fruits or vegetable a day.

Natural, Healthful Food – Fresh fruits
is a living food. Fruits is attractive, appetizing, easy to eat and refreshing.

Detoxifies the Organism – Fruits when
eaten facilitates the elimination of wastes and blood impurities such as uric
acid.

Antioxidant – Fruits are primary source
of this important source. Thanks to antioxidant we can avoid premature aging,
arteriosclerosis, cancer and other diseases.

Regulates the Intestine – Most fruits
are laxatives, meaning it soften the intestinal mucosa and facilitate
evacuation and also fight against diarrhoea.

Avoid Cardiovascular Disease – Studies[i]
has shown that consumption of lots of fruits is very effective in the
prevention of stroke and other coronary diseases.

fruits, you can lower the risk of cancers
You want to stay healthy, eat a lot of fruits. God’s
instruction to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden is still relevant to us in
this day and age.
